Battle of Waterloo - Bataille de Waterloo
Η Μάχη του Βατερλώ (Bataille de Waterloo-Battle of Waterloo-Schlacht bei Waterloo) διεξήχθη την Κυριακή 18 Ιουνίου 1815 κοντά στο Βατερλώ της Φλάνδρας, στο σημερινό Βέλγιο. Ο γαλλικός στρατός υπό τον αυτοκράτορα Ναπολέοντα Α΄ ηττήθηκε από τον στρατό του Έβδομου Συνασπισμού, ο οποίος αποτελείτο από συμμαχικές δυνάμεις που είχαν συγκεντρώσει οι Βρετανοί, υπό τον υποστράτηγο Άρθουρ Ουέλσλι, τον μετέπειτα Δούκα του Ουέλινγκτον, και από Πρώσσους, υπό τον στρατάρχη Γκέμπχαρτ Λέμπερεχτ φον Μπλίχερ. Ήταν το αποκορύφωμα της Εκστρατείας του Βατερλώ και η τελευταία μάχη του Ναπολέοντα. Η ήττα του είχε ως αποτέλεσμα το τέλος της εξουσίας του και την εξορία του στη νήσο της Αγίας Ελένης.

Στις 9 το βράδυ ο Μπλίχερ και ο Δούκας του Ουέλινγκτον συναντήθηκαν στο πανδοχείο «Η Ωραία Συμμαχία» και κήρυξαν το τέλος της μάχης. Οι απώλειες των συνασπισμένων δυνάμεων ανήλθαν σε 22.000 νεκρούς και τραυματίες, ενώ οι Γάλλοι μέτρησαν 25.000 νεκρούς και τραυματίες, καθώς και 8.000 αιχμαλώτους. Τόσο λυσσώδης ήταν η μάχη, ώστε σε ένα χώρο μόλις 5 τετραγωνικών χιλιομέτρων έκειτοντο 47.000 νεκροί και τραυματίες.
